Jesus Is My Peace {Letters to My Children}

My Dear Little Children,

The sun nestles itself higher in the hazy clouds here in Aruba, inching its way higher still to the tippy-top of the sky. Earlier, I opened the windows to the new day. The soft colors of dawn met my eyes declaring God's glory. Your dark, curly heads and bright eyes soon greeted the day as well, as you pattered in to join Daddy and I as we sipped the last of our coffee and drank in the sunrise. The still morning, now bursting with life, erupted with happy, eager chatter and the deep lessons of the heart as you all and Daddy shared the timeless truths of God's Word together. Listening filled me with joy and remembering now fills me with sweet contentment.

These still moments basking in God's kindness and mercy wonderfully prepare us to face the stormy moments that blow into the moments of our lives like the storm clouds above. God's endless supply of grace awaits those who come to him in Jesus Christ right up to his Throne of Grace---boldly, expectantly, and joyfully---seeking his mercy and grace. Our precious Savior, Jesus, waits for us to come to him, and he calls to us to come because he loves us deeply.

Jesus alone is our PEACE. The storms may rage in our hearts as the rain and tears run down our cheeks. We may wonder where our peace has gone; but, my Little Ones, remember that our Peace stands in Heaven praying for us, and calling for us to come to him at the Throne of Grace. Jesus is our Peace and no storms of this life or angry waves in our hearts can take away our peace, for Jesus Christ is our PEACE.

Now we also have peace with our Heavenly Father through our Lord Jesus' wondrous sacrifice on the cross. Let these Bible verses from Romans 5 sink deeply into your hearts of all our dear Lord Jesus did for us at the cross:

"Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. Through him we have also obtained access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and we rejoice in hope of the glory of God.

Not only that, but we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope, and hope does not put us to shame, because God's love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us.

For while we were still weak, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly. For one will scarcely die for a righteous person—though perhaps for a good person one would dare even to die— but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
Since, therefore, we have now been justified by his blood, much more shall we be saved by him from the wrath of God. For if while we were enemies we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, now that we are reconciled, shall we be saved by his life.

More than that, we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received reconciliation."
Romans 5:1-11

These are wonderful words of life to carry us through the day, and through all of our lives till we reach Heaven's shores and see our Savior face-to-face.

So many pilgrims have journeyed on ahead of us, my Children, and one little girl, whose name was Annie, loved Jesus very much and she grew up pouring out her love to Jesus in poems even as she journeyed through many stormy days of life. Annie Johnson Flint used her words to paint rainbows in her sorrows to point others to the precious promises of God's Word that never fade but stand firm forever. Here is one of her beautiful poems to fill your little hearts with the hope that set her own heart ablaze with joy in Jesus' love.

He Giveth More Grace

He giveth more grace when the burdens grow greater,
He sendeth more strength when the labors increase;
To added affliction He addeth His mercy,
To multiplied trials, His multiplied peace.
_____

When we have exhausted our store of endurance,
When our strength has failed ere the day is half done,
When we reach the end of our hoarded resources,
Our Father's full giving is only begun.
_____

Fear not that thy need shall exceed His provision,
Our God ever yearns His resources to share;
Lean hard on the arm everlasting, availing;
The Father both thee and thy load will upbear.
_____

His love has no limit, His grace has no measure;
His power no boundary known unto men;
For out of His infinite riches in Jesus
He giveth and giveth and giveth again."
~Annie Johnson Flint

Always remember, my Little Children, that Jesus is our PEACE. Here is a poem and song of my own to help you remember this precious truth from God's Word:

Jesus is my PEACE
Through life's raging seas
At the cross where He died
He gave up His life
By His blood I'm redeemed
Now I'm saved from sin
And I fix my eyes on Him
For the one who died
Also did rise
He's forever my PEACE
